Dealing with the Unexpected.

I am a creature of habit. I like things to go as planned. Who doesn’t? My schedule usually does not have room for the unexpected. The unexpected usually is a nuissance; a flat tire, car doesn’t start, someone gets sick or God forbid even passes away. The unexpected is always given a negative connotation, atleast in my mind.

Today was different, as we planned to go out we received an unexpected phone call. The person on the other line extended an invitation to visit one of Disney’s amusement parks and it was free of cost to my family. Personally I am not that into the parks but it was an excellent opportunity for my family. This unexpected event allowed me to witness the smile of my child as she saw her favorite characters and even took pictures with them. All this was made possible by a person who cared enough to tear me away from my “regularly scheduled programming”. Today was a lesson well learned, the unexpected can be a blessing in disguise.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.  ~Winston Churchill

I definitely agree. Sometimes we are so busy with our “schedules” that we fail to take time to witness and live in THIS very moment. God has blessed us with so much beauty and we usually pass it on by because we’re too busy adhering to our schedules. I’m glad to hear that today you broke from the routine and were as a result, blessed because of if. (:

Living in the moment is essential, as I have come to learn. Life passes by too quickly to have a one track mind. I believe that God has intended us to enjoy all aspects of life and that it is us who tend to make life more complex than it really is.

In life we always have to have a little flex room! It’s kind of like a tall skyscraper, if it doesn’t have a little room to sway it may crack. That’s how we must be in life, especially when we have children. There are always unexpected things happening and the more we accept that the easier it is to deal with. We cannot be so rigid that we do not stop to smell the flowers. I’m glad you learned this experience and received the joy of it. We all do it at times, we think we are too busy to step out of our routine, but sometimes we find it is for the better.
